The Urinalysis, also referred to as the Routine Microscopy, is a test that examines the different components of the waste products of the kidneys. These are elements which are removed from the blood and passed them on into a fluid know as Urine.
Urine tests can often be easy, quick, are pain free, and an essential part of any routine check-up or examination; as a number of health problems can be detected through this procedure.
So what exactly does a Urinalysis check for? Well there can be any number of things--
New York Doctors Urgent Care offers a basic Rapid Urine Test, Pregnancy Test and Urine C&S.
Rapid Urine Test (same day): The test is used to check for acute symptoms like lower abdominal pain, stomach ache or back pain, frequent and painful urination, sugar levels, pH levels, or blood in the urine.
Pregnancy Test (same day): This test is used to check for a special hormone in the woman's urine, Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone is an indicator of pregnancy.
Urine C&S (2-3days): This test is used to diagnose a urinary tract infection (UTI) and also to find out which types of bacteria are causing the infection. This test can also be used after a treatment for a urinary tract infection to find out if the treatment has worked.
Unsure of which test you might need? Just walk-in to any of the two New York Doctors Urgent Cares and let a Doctor help you find out. (No appointments necessary)
